HYBRID – BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Nissan e-POWER works differently to a conventional hybrid.

In a traditional hybrid, both the petrol engine and electric motor can drive the wheels.

In an X-TRAIL e-POWER, the wheels are driven by the electric motor only.

The petrol engine is there to generate electricity for the battery and electric drive system.

Why does that matter?

Because every time you accelerate, you're getting the smooth, quiet and almost instant response of an electric motor rather than waiting for a conventional petrol drivetrain to respond.

But unlike a plug-in hybrid or battery-electric vehicle:

There's no charging cable.

Until now, Australian X-TRAIL e-POWER buyers were paired with Nissan's e-4ORCE electric AWD system.

Now Nissan has introduced a new 2WD e-POWER powertrain, giving buyers who don't need AWD a simpler and more fuel-efficient way into e-POWER.

Official combined fuel consumption drops to an impressive:

With its 55L fuel tank, Nissan calculates a potential driving range of up to:

1,018km from a single tank.

For the daily commute, school runs, weekends away and long-distance highway travel, that's a seriously compelling combination.

And because it's petrol-electric rather than plug-in, when you do eventually need more range, you simply pull into a service station and fill it up.

e-PEDAL STEP – A DIFFERENT WAY TO DRIVE

The electric-motor experience continues with Nissan's e-Pedal Step technology.

At speeds above 10km/h, e-Pedal Step allows you to accelerate and significantly decelerate primarily through movement of the accelerator pedal.

Lift your foot and the X-TRAIL begins slowing without immediately needing the brake pedal.

Once you become accustomed to it, particularly around town and in stop-start traffic, it makes driving feel incredibly intuitive.

It's another part of what makes e-POWER feel noticeably different from a conventional SUV.

ST-L – THE SWEET SPOT

Then there's the ST-L specification.

This is where the X-TRAIL moves beyond simply being practical and starts feeling genuinely premium.

The ST-L features leather-accented seating with heated front seats, together with 10-way power-adjustable front seats including 2-way power lumbar adjustment.

You also get dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-accented steering wheel, privacy glass and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror.

Outside, the 18-inch alloy wheels give the ST-L a more sophisticated appearance while retaining the comfort and practicality that makes the X-TRAIL such an excellent everyday SUV.

It's a significant step up in equipment without having to move all the way to the top of the range.

12.3 INCHES OF CONNECTIVITY

MY26 brings another major upgrade inside.

A large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system now sits at the centre of the dashboard, with both wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.

There's also wireless smartphone charging, meaning compatible phones can connect and charge without having cables running around the cabin.

The ST-L also features NissanConnect Services, with new MY26 vehicles including a complimentary 3-year subscription.

It all adds up to a cabin that feels modern, connected and extremely easy to live with.

THE CAMERA SYSTEM YOU'LL USE EVERY DAY

One of our favourite ST-L features is Nissan's latest Digital Around View Monitor.

It combines multiple cameras to provide an incredibly useful view around the vehicle when parking or manoeuvring.

For MY26, it gets even better with 3D 8-point viewing, Skeleton Hood View and T-Junction View.

Skeleton Hood View can help you better understand what's immediately in front of the vehicle by effectively providing visibility through the bonnet area.

T-Junction View uses the front camera to provide an ultra-wide perspective when edging out of an intersection where your normal view may be obstructed.

The ST-L also features ProPILOT with Lane Keep Assist.

On compatible roads and in appropriate conditions, ProPILOT combines steering assistance with acceleration and braking support to help maintain your position within the lane and your distance from the vehicle ahead.

For longer highway trips and daily commuting, it's designed to help reduce driver workload.

And it's backed by Nissan's extensive Intelligent Mobility safety suite, including Intelligent Emergency Braking with junction assist and pedestrian/cyclist detection, Intelligent Rear Automatic Braking, Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention, Intelligent Lane Intervention, Intelligent Cruise Control and Traffic Sign Recognition.

The ST-L 2WD e-POWER is a five-seat SUV, with a generous 575L cargo capacity with the second row upright, measured to the roof line.

The second row features a versatile 40/20/40 split-folding design and can slide to help balance passenger and luggage space.
